With an opening concert in May 29 and 30, the Embassy of Latgale GORS has opened its doors for every culture admirer.
On May 29 and 30, 2013, two identical Grand Opening Concerts of the Embassy of Latgale GORS took a place. The first part of the concert – the song play "Ķēniņmeita. Latgales pasaka" ( “King`s Daughter. Latgalian Fairy Tale”) – is a vital production, full with joy and fun. The main character of the production – the third son of the King, Duraceņš – overcomes the obstacles and tests, and wakens up the sleeping Princess.
The first part of the concert revealed the unique treasures of Latgalian folklore, the skills of its musicians and dancers, influenced by numerous nations and centuries. Approximately hundred performers participated in the production – mostly children and youth from Rezekne Jānis Ivanovs Music School, city choirs, dance groups “Dziga” and “Dziguči”, folklore ensembles and other outstanding Latgalian performers.
The first part of the concert was created by broad and diverse creative team: the concept, scenario and direction of the production was created under the supervision of Uģis Brikmaņis and Orests Silabriedis, the authors of the music and its arrangements – Ilona Rupaine and Einārs Lipskis, lyrics and texts by Raibīs Suņs (Oskars Orlovs), the movement consultant - choreographer Ilmārs Dreļs, vocal parts were entrusted to Anda Lipska, the set by – the Set Designer of Latvian National Theatre Aigars Ozoliņš, but the costume design was created by the artist of Rezekne Folk Theatre Ināra Apele.
The second part of the concert revealed the acoustic opportunities of the concert hall in different genres and stylistic specters: the sound of "Steinway&Sons" grand pianos, choir, organ and symphonic orchestra. In this part of concert participated Liepaja Symphonic Orchestra (conductor Atvars Lakstīgala), organist Iveta Apkalna, pianist Vestards Šimkus, and other artists. Especially for this concert, in the united choir their voices joined singers from choirs of Rezekne, Daugavpils and Cesis. In the concert performed soloists: Guntra Kuzmina (soprano), Krišjānis Norvelis (bass) and others.
