On January 16, the first album “Kalniem pāri” (“Over the Hills”) by popular Latgalian choir was presented during the closing concert of the tour on the stage of the Embassy of Latgale GORS.
During the concert the compositions of Raimonds Pauls, Zigmars Liepiņš, Mārtiņš Brauns, Jānis Logins, Jānis Aišpurs, and Normunds Zušs skaņdarbi, as well as the traditional folk song arrangements etc. were presented.
Choir was founded in February 2013 during the selection process for TV3 show “Choir Battles 3”. In the conduction of the soloist, the song writer, leader of a music band “Galaktika”, and a conductor Normunds Zušs, the choir started their battle with a great reason for charity – to donate 10 000 lats to Rezekne Hospital Maternity Department. A lot of their strength, time and energy was invested in the process of reaching the goal. At the end TV viewers appreciated that – after a 9 week song battles the Green Hills Choir became the winners of the “Choir Battles 3” competition. They received not only the money prize, but the opportunity to participate in the “World Choir Olympics” as well – where they showed great results by gaining the golden medal.
