Painter Ilgvars Zalāns (born in 1962) is an outstanding world citizen of Latvian contemporary art. He has actively used the opportunities offered by the artist residencies and has traveled nearly across half of the world. In the recent years, his art has been more recognized in Malaysia, China, Japan, and Korea, than in Latvia, especially, since he has resided more abroad than in his motherland. Painter’s masterpieces are created in the form of an abstract expressionism.
