One of the most favorite productions of Latvian Nacional Opera - Pyotr Tchaikovsky ballet “The Nutcracker” could be seen in Rezekne for the first time.

The action of the ballet takes place in Riga, at the end of 19th century – here you can feel the atmosphere of the old city streets, can find the interiors of Art Nouveau, motives of the plants and effective contrasts: it`s winter outside the window, but the flowers are blooming inside. On Christmas Eve little Maria receives a present – a Nutcracker. The toys under the Christmas tree comes to life and an unexpected adventures may begin – the room is overtaken by mice army, Nutcracker transforms into a Prince, he releases Maria and takes her to the fairy tale land.
